Kia Kaha, Kia Ora | Be Active, Be Well

Take the first step towards a healthier lifestyle

Green Prescription (GRx) is the first step towards improving your health and well-being. Prescribed by health professionals, this free programme encourages a more active lifestyle and better nutrition. At Sport Hawke’s Bay, we support you with free personalised consultations, healthy eating and physical activity resources, goal-setting assistance, hands-on cooking workshops, and access to free gym and water-based sessions.

Is a Green Prescription available to you?

Green Prescription is available to individuals and whānau who would benefit from increased physical activity and improved nutrition. Our priority group includes those who are physically inactive and living with long-term health conditions. We also offer additional support for Wāhine Hapū, rangatahi, tamariki, and anyone who may require a longer-term intervention. Whatever your circumstances, we’re here to help you take the first step towards a healthier lifestyle. When you register, we’ll discuss the best level of support for your needs. You can get a referral from your doctor or nurse, or simply call us at 0800 228 483 or email us to get started.

What happens once you're referred?

Once your referral is processed, one of our Active Living Advisors will reach out to arrange a time for either a face-to-face, online, or telephone consultation. During this session, they will discuss the various Green Prescription options available to you, provide an overview of the programme, and answer any questions you may have.

The programme offers a range of supportive options to help you become more active, including weekly exercise sessions and nutrition workshops.

Your Active Living Advisor will be available to you whenever needed, whether by phone or through face-to-face visits, to discuss your progress, set goals, and offer ongoing support.

Green Prescription gives you the opportunity to explore new activities in a fun, supportive environment, helping you on your journey to better health.
